Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Nurse Extern to join our interdisciplinary team and deliver quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed professional. Start dates are December 2026 or January 2027, with at least 3 shifts in a 6-week period while you are in school.

You must be actively enrolled in an accredited nursing school and have completed at least one semester with a clinical rotation. BLS certification through AHA is required within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 1 nursing semester with 1 clinical rotation.
• BLS certification through AHA required within 30 days of employment.
• Active enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills requested.

Responsibilities

• Assist in basic patient care under licensed supervision: vitals, triage, weights, feeds/baths/oral care, linen changes, transports.
• Maintain and operate department and patient care equipment; document care activities for the shift.
• Communicate patient care needs and responsibilities to the team; help prioritize and document accordingly.
• Support leadership in staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Care for patients across the age groups listed for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
