Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern who is currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. You will work under the supervision of an RN in an acute care hospital and gain hands-on experience across medical-surgical, telemetry, and critical care units.

The extern participates in the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care, supports the healthcare team, and may perform non-clinical duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN in providing care based on nursing process and unit standards.
• Perform vital signs, hygiene, feeding, ambulation under RN supervision.
• Document findings and care as allowed by policy.
• Communicate needs and observations to the RN and care team.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families while maintaining boundaries.
• Follow infection control, safety, and privacy regulations.
