Job summary

The Extern I at Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson provides essential nursing support under the direct supervision of an RN or Clinical Manager. You assist with activities of daily living, measure vital signs, and help ensure a safe, compassionate patient experience in a Level I Trauma Center environment.

This role emphasizes teamwork, patient comfort, and adherence to policy while developing foundational clinical skills through hands-on practice and structured education opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; currently enrolled in accredited RN program and completed first clinical rotation.
• Licensure/Certification: Active CPR.
• Experience: hospital environment preferred; ability to work variable shifts and lift safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care under the direction of an RN or Clinical Manager; assist with activities of daily living.
• Measure and record vital signs and monitor intake/output.
• Report changes in patient condition to an RN in a timely manner.
