Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Nurse Extern for our Cardiac Progressive Care unit. This contingent role supports patient safety and comfort under RN supervision, contributing to high-quality cardiac and complex medical care while you advance your nursing education.

You will participate in patient care activities, respond to emergencies, and engage in ongoing education to strengthen your nursing skills in a 20-bed cardiac stepdown setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations.
• Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg (acute care setting).
• Current Health Care Provider Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Participate in continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Education

Schedule:7:00am-7:30pm/7:00pm-7:30am; Contingent

About the Department

Our unitis a 20-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit that provides nursing students with the opportunity tocare for patients with cardiac and complex medical needs, while building skills in assessment, telemetry, and progressive nursing care.

As a Nurse Extern, you'll play a vital role in providing patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your contributions will directly support patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This role is essential in assisting the nursing team, responding to emergent situations, and ensuring high-quality care while advancing your nursing education.
