Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Enrolled in Henry Ford Health Early College Program with two clinical rotations.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with two clinical rotations, including Med/Surg.
• Current Health Care Provider Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform specific patient care duties under RN supervision to meet safety and comfort needs.
• Provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Participate in continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Nurse Extern - Emergency Department

About the Department

Start building your emergency care experience in the fast-paced Emergency Department at Henry Ford Rochester Hospital. Our 30-bed Emergency Department, including three resuscitation rooms, cares for a diverse patient population across the lifespan. The department supports Level III Trauma, Primary Stroke Center, and STEMI care and treats patients arriving by both walk-in and EMS.

As a Nurse Extern, you'll play a vital role in providing patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your contributions will directly support patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This role is essential in assisting the nursing team, responding to emergent situations, and ensuring high-quality care while advancing your nursing education.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent OR currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations.
• Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg (acute care setting).
• Current Health Care Provider Certification.
