Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Nurse Educator to lead the daily activities of the nursing staff, coordinate educational programs, and support patient care excellence.

The role partners with the Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist to define standards, conduct in-services, and participate in quality improvement. Requires MA RN license and nursing degree; two years of tertiary care nursing and one year in precepting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
• Massachusetts RN licensure is required.
• Two years of current tertiary care nursing experience are required.
• One year of experience in clinical preceptor and/or resource role.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and carries out educational programs for nursing staff such as in-service, Basic Life Support, and continuing education programs.
• Coordinates nursing activities to meet patient and unit needs.
• Keeps Nurse Manager informed of workload changes and staff needs.
• Coordinates orientation schedules and assignments for new staff on the unit.
• Assists clinical preceptor in teaching defined nursing competencies.
• Collaborates on defining nursing standards and educational needs with leadership.
• Participates in quality improvement programs and evaluates outcomes.
