Job summary

Caring Hospice Services is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse in Sandwich, MA to provide after-hours hospice care, focusing on pain and symptom control, and to implement and adjust nursing plans of care in collaboration with physicians. Must hold an MA RN license and have reliable transportation.

The position offers a $6,000 signing bonus for eligible candidates and a 7 on/7 off schedule. Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills are essential to coordinate care with families

The Nurse On-Call provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Work Schedule: 7 on/7 off

The On-Call RN provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to the hospice patient after regular office hours. Implements physician plan of care and establishes a nursing plan of care based upon nursing process.

Licensed as an RN in the state of MA.

• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.
• Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skill.
• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
• Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly.
• Identifies problems/needs of patient of caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.
• Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service. Is able to prioritize.
