Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos LLC is seeking a Nuclear Processing Operator to sort, size reduce, and safely handle radioactive waste at Los Alamos, NM. The role requires strict adherence to procedures, PPE, and team-based operations to protect safety and security in a regulated facility.

The position involves working with various tools, documentation, and data interpretation to support waste characterization and disposition while maintaining DOE and internal standards.

Qualifications

• Must understand work hazards, safety practices, and operating configurations.
• Experience working in a team environment with a strong safety culture.
• Attention to detail in quality-oriented environments.
• Familiar with handling radioactive and hazardous wastes and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to obtain forklift and crane operator certifications.

Responsibilities

• Proper handling, packaging, treatment and documenting hazardous and radioactive waste.
• Provide technical support including opening waste containers and describing waste items.
• Coordinate characterization, certification, and disposition of waste while ensuring regulatory compliance.
