Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. in Paducah, KY is seeking a Waste Management Specialist I to support the FRNP Deactivation Project. You will perform waste management tasks, coordinate packaging and disposition activities, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Strong communication and DOE safety knowledge are required. You will work with Waste Engineers, Radiological Control, ES&H, and other teams to maintain compliant waste storage areas and support off-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and one year of related experience is required.
• Knowledge of DOE nuclear facility safety requirements and processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform waste management duties including waste stream certification, disposition planning, transportation, and related activities.
• Coordinate waste activities with project teams and ensure resources are available for packaging activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, Radiological Control, Environment, Safety and Health, and Quality Assurance to support waste packaging and disposition.
• Assist with establishing, maintaining, and inspecting waste storage areas and transfer hazardous waste to permanent storage when needed.
• Document waste contents and required logs to support final characterization and verification.
