Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Waste Management Specialist I for the Paducah, KY site supporting the PGDP Deactivation and Remediation project. Responsibilities include assisting management to ensure safe, compliant waste operations, coordinating with Waste Engineers, RADCON, ES&H, QA, and other groups, and maintaining documentation for waste containers.

DOE clearance knowledge and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related field and 1 year of related experience required.
• Typical experience ranges from 1–4 years.
• Knowledge of nuclear facility operations.
• Knowledge of DOE nuclear facility safety and reporting requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Intermediate PC skills including Microsoft software.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support management to ensure Waste Management functions are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with project procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Waste Engineers, Frontline Supervisors, RADCON, ES&H, QA, NDA and other groups to support packaging activities as directed by the Waste Engineer.
• Coordinate with waste operations for approvals, container delivery, and storage processes, including weights and treatments.
• Ensure proper documentation for each waste container (logs, radiological surveys, disposal requests) to support characterization and verification.
• Maintain waste storage areas and transfer hazardous waste to permanent storage as required by procedures.
