Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Federal group seeks a Process Engineer to support nuclear, chemical, and energetic system designs under NQA-1. Key duties include developing PFDs/P&IDs, sizing equipment, and building process models, with EPC project exposure.

This role requires ABET-accredited degrees, FE/PE credentials, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 25%. DOE/DOD security clearance eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program with 3 years process engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• FE exam completed and 3 years process engineering experience; EPC experience preferred.
• MS in Chemical Engineering with 2 years process engineering experience; EPC preferred.
• 5 years of process engineering experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge of process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
• Strong computer skills including Excel and engineering software like HYSYS/Aspen/HTRI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design on large projects and delegating tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develop PFDs and P&IDs; size equipment and specify data for instruments.
• Develop process models using Aspen/HYSYS or Excel.
• Support project execution from front-end studies through detailed design and EPC execution.
• Assist in cost estimates and proposal development.
• Lead discipline design on multidiscipline projects and mentor team members.
• Travel up to 25% to support projects.
