Job summary

Sargent & Lundy's Knoxville associate engineering opening focuses on structural engineering for nuclear facilities, with three days in-office and two remote days. You will collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines on new builds and plant upgrades.

Requirements include a BS/MS in structural/civil or architectural engineering, coursework in steel and concrete design, and knowledge of ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a strong academic background
• Coursework in steel and concrete design
• Knowledge of loads analysis for structural supports and design integrity
• Understanding of applying structural engineering principles to project design
• Knowledge of design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications
• Support designers with drawing development
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations
• Collaborate with project teams and interface with other engineering disciplines
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification
