Job summary

Orano Federal Services LLC in Federal Way, WA is seeking a Mechanical/Structural Engineer I-II to support design, analysis, and licensing of nuclear transport packages. You will perform static and dynamic structural analyses using ANSYS/LS-DYNA and hand calculations, interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure structural integrity.

The role requires a BS/MS in mechanical engineering with up to 3 years of experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
• 0 to 3 years work experience in structural engineering or mechanical design and analysis.
• Working knowledge of FEA theory and application.
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Experience working with equipment design software such as SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations in support of design, development, and licensing in the structural discipline.
• Interface with designers, project leads, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the structural integrity of the design.
• Conduct finite element analyses on structures, systems and components using ANSYS and LS-DYNA and/or by hand calculations.
• Provide design solutions and verification methods.
• Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem-solving meetings.
• Document structural analysis calculations and prepare related sections of SAR/Technical Reports for NRC licensing.
