Job summary

TerraPower LLC. is seeking a Simulator Engineer for Training & Simulation Engineering to design, develop, and sustain a FOAK fast sodium reactor training simulator.

You will work across FORTRAN, C++, Python to reflect plant dynamics and control logic in real-time platforms. You will collaborate with reactor design, I&C, and training staff to ensure high fidelity across normal operations, transients, and training scenarios, while complying with QA and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in training simulator engineering or real-time simulation.
• Proficiency in FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
• Experience with real-time simulation platforms (R*Time and RTP).
• Familiarity with configuration management/version control environments such as 3 Key Master.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance dynamic models of reactor systems using FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot real-time simulation platforms (R*Time and RTP).
• Use 3 Key Master tools for model version control, configuration management, and benchmarking.
• Collaborate with engineers and training specialists to ensure simulator fidelity across normal and abnormal conditions.
• Participate in simulator upgrades, rehosting, and new visualization efforts.
• Perform acceptance testing, validation, and model verification against plant calculations and training needs.
• Support training sessions by diagnosing issues and minimizing downtime.
• Produce engineering docs, model descriptions, and test records per QA standards.
