Job summary

Ocean Atomics LLC in Bethesda, MD seeks a Senior Simulator and Training Lead to develop and validate the nuclear training program and simulation products, coordinating with design to iteratively improve control systems. You will own the simulator scope, including classroom and computer-based tools, ensuring fidelity to plant design as it evolves.

The role requires extensive nuclear operations experience, a valid SRO license, and the ability to lead instructors, instructional designers, and SMEs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent depth via licensed operations experience.
  • Deep understanding of control systems in nuclear power plants.
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification.
  • 10+ years nuclear experience spanning operations, training, or related roles.
  • INPO or utility instructor certification.
  • Experience delivering instruction on integrated plant systems to operations or technical audiences.
  • Experience applying SAT across analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct experience with full-scope simulator development, validation, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality and regulatory frameworks governing training.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead simulator development, procurement, and acceptance of control room and training tools.
  • Coordinate with I&C engineering to drive control system design decisions.
  • Define simulator scope, requirements, and fidelity from plant design data.
  • Validate simulator performance against reference data and conduct benchmarking and testing.
  • Develop scenario and malfunction libraries for normal and abnormal operations.
  • Maintain simulator configuration control and manage deficiency tracking and re-validation.
  • Perform training needs analysis and translate inputs into training requirements.
  • Apply SAT to design learning pathways and develop course materials and exams.
  • Establish personnel qualification structures and administer proficiency programs.
  • Deliver or direct instruction on plant systems and supervise instructors and SMEs.
  • Support emergency response training, drills, and exercises.
  • Align training with nuclear quality standards and regulatory requirements; support audits and accreditation.
