Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Simulator Engineer in Wyoming to join our Training & Simulation Engineering team. You will design, develop, integrate, and sustain a FOAK fast sodium reactor training simulator, ensuring accurate plant dynamics and control logic across operations and transients.

You will work with FORTRAN, C++, and Python, supporting operator training plus engineering and scenario development using real-time platforms (R*Time, RTP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in training simulator engineering, real-time simulation, or plant modeling in regulated environments.
• Proficiency in FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
• Experience with real-time simulation platforms (R*Time and/or RTP).
• Familiarity with 3 Key Master or similar configuration management environments.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance dynamic models of reactor systems using FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
• Configure and troubleshoot real-time simulation platforms (R*Time, RTP) and integrate with control room hardware.
• Use 33 Key Master tools for model version control and benchmarking.
• Collaborate with design, I&C, training, and human factors teams to ensure fidelity.
• Participate in simulator upgrades, rehosting, and digital I&C adaptation.
• Perform validation, debugging, and model verification against plant calculations and training needs.
• Produce engineering documentation, change logs, and QA-compliant records.
