Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, Washington, is seeking a Nuclear Fuels Performance Engineer to support the fuel performance team in thermo-mechanical analysis and modeling of nuclear fuels for fast reactors. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, reporting, and contributing to licensing documentation.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced engineering degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, strong FE A skills (ABAQUS/ANSYS/COMSOL) and programming ability (Python/Fortran).

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with fast-neutron reactor design or methodologies is desirable.
• Familiarity with nuclear design analyses, FEM, and material models.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermo-mechanical analysis of nuclear fuel rods and sodium fast reactor components.
• Interface with cross-functional groups to inform design decisions.
• Document analysis results in reports, calculations, and test plans.
• Design and execute sensitivity studies on modeling assumptions.
• Support software reviews and licensing-related documentation.
