Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Simulator Engineer to design, develop, and sustain a FOAK fast sodium reactor training simulator. You will work across FORTRAN, C++, Python, and real-time platforms (R*Time, RTP) to support operator training and scenario development.

Responsibilities include model development, platform configuration, and collaboration with design, I&C, and training teams to ensure simulator fidelity for normal, transient, and off-normal conditions. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of training simulator engineering, real-time simulation, or plant system modeling in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in FORTRAN, C++, and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with real-time simulation platforms (R*Time and/or RTP).
  • Familiarity with 3 Key Master or equivalent configuration management environments.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dynamic models of reactor systems using FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot real-time simulation platforms and integrate with control hardware.
  • Use 33 Key Master tools for model version control, configuration management, and benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with engineers, training staff, and human factors experts to ensure fidelity.
  • Participate in simulator upgrade projects, including rehosting and I&C adaptation.
  • Perform acceptance testing, validation, and model verification against design basis events.
