A leading company is seeking a Nuclear Shielding and Criticality Engineer for a long-term remote contract. The role involves radiation shielding design, criticality calculations, and utilizing MCNP for safety analysis in advanced nuclear reactors. Candidates should have a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills are essential, along with familiarity with various radiation shielding software.
Candidates may reside anywhere in the USA; they must be eligible to work for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Our client is developing a Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR). This reactor uses a fast neutron spectrum to minimize the reactivity impact of fission products and eliminates the need for online reprocessing required in thermal spectrum molten salt reactors. The Nuclear Shielding & Criticality Engineer will utilize MCNP for radiation shielding calculations for gammas and neutrons, bringing expertise in criticality calculations and safety.
