Role: System Safety Engineer

Location: Remote

Job Description:

• Perform safety assessment processes in accordance with ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E standards.
• Develop and review System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), and Common Mode Analyses (CMAs).
• Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining safety requirements during development.
• Review design and development documentation for safety-critical equipment.
• Review analyses conducted by peer safety engineers.
• Mentor and train less experienced safety engineers.
• Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop safety plans.
• Serve as a recognized technical expert in avionics safety.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• Knowledge of aircraft or electronic systems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
• Ability to prepare and present technical information to peers, management, and customers.
• Experience coordinating multiple projects and engineering activities, managing priorities and schedules independently.
• Basic knowledge of reliability engineering theory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E standards.
• Basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297 standards.
• Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree Analysis tools.
• Knowledge of DOORS, Polarion, Jama tools.
