Job summary

General Matter in Los Angeles seeks a Nuclear Safety Basis Lead to own the integrated safety basis for a first-of-its-kind enrichment facility. You will manage ISA, license commitments, and changes, interfacing with the NRC on safety matters.

This leadership role requires DOE/USQ experience, cross-team collaboration, and strong communication to maintain an up-to-date, compliant safety framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant engineering discipline with safety basis knowledge.
• Experience with 10 CFR Part 70, 10 CFR 830, or equivalent safety bases.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive investigations.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the facility's safety basis (ISA, management measures, license commitments).
• Keep the authorization basis current as the facility evolves.
• Coordinate ISA, criticality, consequence, fire, design, and operations reviews.
• Interface with the NRC on amendments, commitments, and safety basis matters.
• Mentor staff and ensure thorough documentation for audits.
