Job summary

N3B Los Alamos is seeking a Safety Basis lead to head facility-level hazard analysis, USQ determinations, and development of safety basis documents. You will manage hazard identification, categorization, accident analysis, and selection of controls to ensure compliance and safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership and organizational abilities with history of leading others in high-demand situations.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in DOE and industry standards on Safety Basis.
  • Expert experience with DOE or NRC facilities; Naval Reactors experience may be included.
  • Experience evaluating proposed changes or discrepant as-found conditions involving Hazard Category 2 or 3 Nuclear Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead facility level Safety Basis program implementation activities.
  • Manage development of hazard identification, facility hazard categorization, accident analysis; select controls; develop safety basis documents (USQ determinations, Evaluation of the Safety of the Situations, Justification for Continued Operations, Technical Safety Requirements page changes).
  • Provide facility level direction for self-assessment and external management assessment for Safety Basis and USQ quality improvements.
  • Manage safety basis technical/quality issues requiring interpretations, analysis, and conflict resolution; coordinate with program personnel on interpretations/technical issues.
  • Develop facility level audits, assessments and metrics for Safety Basis/USQ performance.
  • Implement the USQ program.
  • Ensure initial and refresher Safety Basis/USQ training and assessments are effectively performed.
