Job summary

Aalo Atomics, based in the United States, is seeking a Nuclear Safety Analyst/Engineer to support development, maintenance, and implementation of nuclear safety programs at the Aalo-X campus. You will perform safety analyses and ensure compliance with DOE safety requirements across design, construction, and operations.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated throughout the lifecycle of a first-of-a-kind microreactor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of nuclear safety experience in DOE nuclear facilities, including safety basis development or implementation.
• Working knowledge of safety basis processes, including DSA/TSR development, hazard analyses, and accident analyses.
• Experience performing Unreviewed Safety Question screenings per 10 CFR 830.
• Understanding of DOE nuclear safety requirements including facility safety and QA frameworks.
• Experience with hazard categorization and classification of safety structures, systems, and components.
• Strong analytical skills with detail orientation and independent technical assessment ability.
• Effective written and verbal communication for technical reports and safety evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety basis documents including DSAs/TSRs and supporting hazard analyses.
• Perform USQ screenings and evaluations for changes per 10 CFR 830.
• Conduct hazard identification, categorization, and analysis for nuclear facilities.
• Support classification of safety-class and safety-significant structures, systems, and components.
• Identify and evaluate Potential Inadequacies in Safety Analysis and develop compensatory measures.
• Participate in facility walkdowns, design reviews, and operational assessments.
• Integrate nuclear safety requirements into facility design, construction, and operations.
• Prepare technical reports, safety evaluations, and presentations for DOE oversight.
