Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to support a large SMR contract with a remote work setup and limited travel. You will translate design specifications, develop components and assemblies, and prepare submittals and calculations for manufacturing.

Ideal candidates hold a BSME, 3+ years in mechanical design of pumps or turbomachinery, and have SolidWorks experience, ASME BPVC knowledge, and some FEA background. US citizenship is required to meet federal contract requirements.

Qualifications

• BSME or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in mechanical design and analysis of rotating machinery (pumps/motors).
• Experience with nuclear power generation equipment preferred.
• Strong SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
• ASME BPVC knowledge, ideally Section VIII Div. 2 or III.
• Experience with FEA: static/thermal/frequency/transient/non-linear.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Translate contract design specifications into components, subassemblies and assemblies.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings, calculations, analyses, procedures, test plans and reports.
• Use FEA for stress, seismic, and thermal analyses; support testing and validation.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
• Interface with customers and vendors during design activities.
