Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Nuclear team in Kansas City, MO is seeking experienced mechanical engineers to work on operating plants and new nuclear projects, including SMRs and advanced reactors.

You will contribute to design, procurement, and construction management, performing field inspections and coordinating with multiple disciplines to deliver robust mechanical systems. A strong background in ASME NQA-1 and FE/EIT is valued.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
  • FE exam passed or EIT preferred.
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access at a US nuclear facility.
  • Experience with nuclear plant mechanical design and ASME NQA-1 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical design from concept to design completion.
  • Modifies and reviews production drawings for power projects.
  • Designs mechanical systems and selects components.
  • Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, bids, and purchase recommendations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct site field inspections and measurements.
  • Compile information for client presentations and contract administration.
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, and civil engineers.
