Job summary

Southern Nuclear is forming a Senior Reactor Operator In Training program focused on preparing candidates for NRC licensing and shift supervision at its Hatch site. Trainees will learn plant systems, heat transfer, and safety procedures while completing required screenings and medicals.

Successful candidates will advance to Shift Support Supervisor, directing on-shift personnel and coordinating reactor operations on rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Solid analytical thinking and strong mechanical aptitude are a must.

Responsibilities

• Stand watch on rotating 12-hour shifts and coordinate plant operations.
• Direct operating shift personnel in the performance of plant duties.
• Oversee and participate in training and qualification processes for NRC licenses.
• Maintain readiness for unescorted access and fitness-for-duty requirements.
