Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA seeks an experienced Operations Specialist to provide leadership and safety oversight of its radiochemical and Lab operations portfolio. The role focuses on planning, risk mitigation, and coordinating contractors and researchers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of research activities.

Minimum qualifications include a BS/BA with 11 years or an MS with 9 years of relevant experience; DOE safety processes and regulatory

Qualifications

  • BS/BA and 11 years relevant research operations experience OR MS/MA or higher and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Preferred: engineering degree (mechanical, chemical, or nuclear).
  • DOE Unreviewed Safety Question Process experience.
  • Experience with 10 CFR 830 regulatory and safety bases.
  • Experience implementing DOE O 422.1 Conduct of Operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and emergency response experience.
  • Experience with radiological work planning and RGDs.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate operational capabilities across research and support orgs for project execution.
  • Monitor operational risk profile and regulatory changes; mitigate exposures.
  • Lead or participate in incident reviews, causal analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Provide SME support to management for planning and risk identification.
  • Coordinate day-to-day space activities, scheduling, and logistics for researchers.
