Responsibilities
This is a nonexempt position responsible for operating diagnostic Nuclear Medicine equipment and handling radiopharmaceuticals that assist radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating diseases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Use customer service principles to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
- Position patients, perform imaging procedures, analyze results, and ensure image quality. Reposition patients and repeat procedures as needed. Enter, transmit, and report scan results.
- Review patient history and physician’s orders. Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Order, prepare, administer, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals per protocols and regulations. Monitor patient condition and respond to changes appropriately.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, select appropriate exposure factors, implement safety standards, perform quality control, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure safety compliance.
- Maintain and adjust imaging equipment, including repairs.
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities such as scheduling, assisting with exams, and collecting patient history.
- Manage clerical tasks, including medical records and updates in electronic medical records.
- Maintain environmental standards, including cleaning and sterilization, and restocking supplies.
- Keep all required log books in compliance with Florida regulations.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and radiation safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure patient-centered care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in nuclear medicine technology; NMT certification (CNMT) and ARRT(N) license in Florida required. BLS/ACLS certified.
- ARRT(N) or CNMT with 3+ years experience. Medical office experience preferred. Maintain CEUs and recertification as required.
- Knowledge of cardiac imaging procedures, anatomy, physiology, and nuclear imaging safety.
- Skill in patient positioning, equipment troubleshooting, infection control, and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift and position patients for stress tests and attention to detail.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
