Job summary

The Nuclear Medicine technologist at Wellstar performs exams in accordance with department procedures to provide safe, age-appropriate care and high-quality diagnostic imaging. The technologist sets up equipment, positions patients, and ensures proper documentation and patient safety throughout each study.

They verify orders, prepare radiopharmaceuticals, and support other technologists as needed, maintaining infection control and patient privacy while delivering compassionate care in a busy

Qualifications

• Education: Associates Radiologic Technology.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in a clinical setting caring for patients (may include clinical rotations) is required.
• Certifications: ARRT Nuclear Technology or Cert Nuclear Med Tech; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique so that patient receives the best study possible and image quality is maintained.
• Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider for timely correction.
• Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department schedule.
• Verifies proper clinician order and obtains complete clinical history prior to procedures.
• Ensures patient identification and correct laterality; reviews images for clinically acceptable results.
