Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine required.
  • No experience required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiation safety.
  • Knowledge of Radioactive Materials Program Requirements (State of WI) DHS 157.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture.
  • Basic ECG interpretation, heart rhythm recognition and pharmacological knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently performs basic to intermediate nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including general and cardiac.
  • Reviews patient's medical record to obtain clinical information and ensures exam accuracy.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medications; venipuncture and IV placement.
  • Relays pertinent patient history information to appropriate staff and departments.
  • Post-processes images and labels images with patient name, MRU number, and scan position.
  • Maintains records per regulatory agencies; enters patient and study information into RIS; documents billing codes.
  • Identifies equipment issues and performs QA tests and calibrations; reports malfunctions.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with safe lifting techniques.
  • Must be able to provide age-appropriate care per department policies.
