Qualifications

Job description

Overview

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic studies and assists with therapeutic administrations utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with Carle policies, procedures, and IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety regulations.

Qualifications

Certifications: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) within 1 year - Varies; Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) within 1 year - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

Education: Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; College Diploma: Related Field.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs diagnostic studies and radiopharmaceutical therapeutic administration using Nuc Med and/or PET/CT equipment, acquiring and processing patient exams as per guidelines and protocols. Reviews cases with radiologists when appropriate.
  2. Reviews labs and patient history to ensure correct exam procedures.
  3. Administers IV radiopharmaceuticals via existing IV line or venipuncture, screening patients for pregnancy and performing testing if applicable.
  4. Reviews radiology orders for completeness and accuracy; gathers additional information from patients or providers as needed.
  5. Ensures imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
  6. Transfers and verifies image data in PACS, providing necessary clinical information for radiologist interpretation.
  7. Maintains imaging equipment and work environment, including inventory management and reporting malfunctions.
  8. Assists in radiopharmaceutical therapeutic administration following exam protocols.
  9. Uses RIS for scheduling, billing, and coding procedures.

Compensation and Benefits
