Qualifications

Job description

Overview

To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the supervision of a radiologist, following established procedures and protocols. Ensure safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT services.

Qualifications

License/Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - ARRT

Education:

  • College Diploma in a Related Field or Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology

Other Knowledge/Skills:

  • Relevant technical and clinical skills as required
Responsibilities
  1. Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques.
  2. Perform optimal scans with correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on patient diagnosis and history.
  3. Use appropriate radiation doses following ACR guidelines for diagnostic quality.
  4. Perform advanced imaging procedures such as CT angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPRs, utilizing reconstruction software.
  5. Follow departmental workflow: identify patients, verify orders, acquire history, scan, send images to PACS, document, and complete cases in Meditech.
  6. Operate support equipment including workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems.
  7. Initiate IV access for contrast media administration following department policies and standard precautions.
  8. Prepare patients by explaining procedures and monitoring during scans.
  9. Assist in patient transfers and ensure patient safety during procedures.
  10. Collaborate with radiologists to tailor protocols for individual patient needs.
  11. Document all procedures, supplies, and any adverse reactions or incidents accurately.
  12. Maintain licensure and continuing education requirements.
  13. Administer contrast media after proper patient screening and consultation with providers as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
