Responsibilities

  • Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for their designated area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physics, scanning technique and computer science related to nuclear imaging.
  • Operates nuclear imaging equipment and software to perform studies.
  • Responsible for ordering, handling, preparation, administration and documentation of radioactive isotopes.
  • Performs calculations and reports using appropriate tools; serves ages from infant to geriatric.
  • Reviews examination for proper positioning, technique and identification per protocols.
  • Confirms patient identification using hospital identifiers.
  • Reviews orders and notes for safety and appropriateness with radiologist as needed.
  • Recognizes emergencies and applies appropriate aid; participates in stand-by and after-hours duties.
  • Maintains sterile technique, prevents cross-contamination, and handles records and billing timely.
  • Prepares examination for interpreter (radiologist).
  • Keeps work areas stocked and assists with supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (scheduling, QC follow-up, transport, clerical).
