Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a PET technologist to join a fast-paced clinical environment across Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, and York Hospital. The role is 24 hr per week as a part-time position, emphasizing patient safety and clear communication with radiologists.

Ideal candidates will hold ARRT and/or NMTCB certification, possess a state license, and have nuclear medicine experience with CPR, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to assist patients and operate PET equipment

Qualifications

• One year of nuclear medicine experience or more.
• Must hold ARRT and/or NMTCB certification.
• Must have a valid state license to work in the state(s) employed in.
• CPR certification required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Proficient in starting IVs.
• Able to use a computer for extended periods.
• Must be able to assist patients with mobility and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follow Shields Health Care policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure radioisotopes.
• Perform hot lab duties and prep work.
• Accurately position patients and ensure comfort during exams.
• Record data in the Tech Data Entry system and provide films as needed.
• Forward PET data to Radiologist after exams and re-film when time allows.
• Assist clerical staff and maintain equipment and rooms.

Job Summary

In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment. This is a 24 hr Part-time role. Shift locations: Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital & York Hospital.

Job Description

What you will do:

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

What you need:

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work.
• Must be certified in CPR.
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be proficient in starting IVs.
• Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. It is not intended that this Job Description include all details of the work functions of this position. The incumbent will perform work of a lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, and work of higher classification for training and development purposes or as situationally warranted.
