Job summary

Shields Health Care Group in Massachusetts is seeking a PET technologist to join a fast-paced, patient‑focused imaging team. This is a float position with four 10‑hour shifts, rotating between Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Heywood (Athol) and Marlborough locations.

You will operate PET equipment, ensure patient safety, and coordinate with radiologists, while handling data entry and film issuance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which employed
• Must be CPR certified
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB
• A minimum of one year prior nuclear medicine experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Must be proficient in starting IVs
• Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
• Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds

Responsibilities

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program
• Provide and issue films when appropriate
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed

This is a 4 day 10 hour shift Float position between our locations at Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Heywood (Athol location) & Marlborough.

Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. It is not intended that this Job Description include all details of the work functions of this position. The incumbent will perform work of a lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, and work of higher classification for training and development purposes or as situationally warranted.
