Job summary

Shields Health Care seeks a PET technologist to provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all patient groups in a fast-paced, multi-tasking clinical environment. You will follow all Shields Health Care Group policies and procedures to ensure patient safety at all times.

Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes, perform hot lab tasks, and ensure patient safety throughout the exam.

Qualifications

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be proficient in starting IVs.

Responsibilities

• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows.
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
