Job summary

Shields Health Solutions seeks a PET technologist to provide compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role is a 4-day, 10-hour shift float across Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Heywood (Athol location), and Marlborough.

Responsibilities include operating PET equipment, informing patients, recording data, and coordinating with Radiologists. Requires state license, CPR, ARRT/NMTCB registration and nuclear medicine experience.

Qualifications

  • License to practice in applicable state(s).
  • CPR certification required.
  • ARRT and/or NMTCB registration required.
  • Minimum 1 year nuclear medicine experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills expected.
  • Proficient in starting IVs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes.
  • Inform patients about exam details and obtain consent.
  • Record patient data in the Tech Data Entry program.
  • Forward PET-related data to Radiologist upon exam completion.
  • Refilm cases as time allows and assist clerical staff as needed.

Job description

Job Summary:

In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment.
This is a 4 day 10 hour shift Float position between our locations at Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Heywood (Athol location) & Marlborough.

Job Description:

What you will do:

  • Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  • Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  • Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
  • Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  • Refilm cases as time allows
  • Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

What you need:

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Additional Job Description:

Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
