Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company in Oak Harbor, Ohio, seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead the mechanical scope for Extended Power Uprates (EPU) across multi-billion-dollar projects. You will ensure safe, compliant designs and coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineers to integrate solutions into plant infrastructure.

The role requires 10+ years in nuclear engineering, with 5+ years in mechanical design or major projects, and strong NRC/ASME/ANSI code knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Mechanical preferred.
• 10+ years of nuclear engineering experience, with 5+ years in mechanical design or major projects.
• Direct experience with Extended Power Uprates or large-scale plant modifications.
• Strong knowledge of NRC, INPO, ASME, and ANSI codes and standards.
• Ability to lead discipline-specific teams and interface with EPCs, OEMs, and site staff.
• Experience supporting regulatory submittals and NRC/INPO inquiries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering scope for multi-billion-dollar EPU projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Direct and review mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with ASME, NRC, and fleet standards.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering to ensure system compatibility and constructability.
• Support Owner’s Engineer and independent third-party reviews, validating design quality and operational readiness.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving mechanical design issues to maintain outage and project milestones.
• Ensure mechanical modifications support long-term operability, maintainability, and integration into plant systems.
