Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company in Oak Harbor, Ohio seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead the scope of Power Uprate projects. This role ensures high-quality design, modification, and testing of mechanical systems while complying with NRC requirements and Vistra standards.

You will coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineering to deliver reliable, constructible, and safe solutions integrated into plant infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required); Mechanical preferred.
• 10+ years of nuclear engineering experience, with 5+ years in mechanical systems design or major projects.
• Direct experience with Extended Power Uprates or large-scale plant modifications.
• Strong knowledge of NRC, INPO, ASME, and ANSI codes and standards.
• Experience leading discipline-specific teams and interfacing with EPCs, OEMs, and site staff.
• Experience supporting regulatory submittals and NRC/INPO inquiries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering scope for multi-billion-dollar EPU projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Direct and review mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with ASME, NRC, and fleet standards.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering to ensure system compatibility and constructability.
• Support Owner’s Engineer and independent third‑party reviews, validating design quality and operational readiness.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving mechanical design issues to maintain outage and project milestones.
• Ensure mechanical modifications support long‑term operability, maintainability, and integration into plant systems.
