Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company in Oak Harbor, OH, seeks a Major Projects Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical scope of Power Uprate projects. You will guide design, modification, and testing of mechanical systems while ensuring NRC, ASME, and fleet standards compliance.

You will coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineering to deliver reliable, constructible, and safe solutions that integrate into plant infrastructure and support outage milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required); Mechanical preferred.
• 10+ years of nuclear engineering experience, with 5+ years in mechanical systems design, modification, or major projects.
• Direct experience with Extended Power Uprates, large-scale plant modifications, or equivalent projects.
• Strong knowledge of NRC, INPO, ASME, and ANSI codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering scope for multi-billion-dollar EPU projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Direct and review mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with ASME, NRC, and fleet standards.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering to ensure system compatibility and constructability.
• Support Owner’s Engineer and independent third-party reviews, validating design quality and operational readiness.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving mechanical design issues to maintain outage and project milestones.
• Ensure mechanical modifications support long-term operability, maintainability, and integration into plant systems.
