Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 4 to support Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Tonopah, AZ. This onsite role applies mechanical engineering to mission-critical projects ensuring safe, reliable operations at a major nuclear facility.

You will lead mechanical engineering efforts from front-end design through detailed design and construction support, develop scopes of work, equipment specs, maintain equipment lists, and coordinate with vendors to meet requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
• At least 6 years of direct experience in the EPCm industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers across multiple complex projects.
• Develop innovative conceptual mechanical designs evaluating constructability, performance, life-cycle costs and reliability.
• Manage mechanical scope changes to meet budgets and timelines without compromising quality or compliance.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, process engineers, construction managers, vendors and clients for seamless integration.
• Formulate and review detailed work plans, estimating staffing needs and schedules.
• Review engineering drawings, calculations and specifications to ensure QA and compliance, applying PE stamp when authorized.
