Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Hot Cell Operator to assist researchers in experiments involving nuclear or radiated materials using manipulators and glove boxes. You will follow facility procedures and ORNL standards under limited supervision.

Responsibilities include supporting R&D tasks, using tele-manipulators, operating hot cell equipment, qualifying cranes and forklifts, and preparing detailed documentation.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or AS degree with related field experience; equivalent combos considered.
• Must complete Rad Worker II training and NNFD training requirements.
• Willingness to obtain DOE clearance and complete pre-employment checks.
• Experience in nuclear operations or related technical field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist R&D staff with mission tasks in facilities.
• Operate tele-manipulators and hot cell processing equipment.
• Qualify and operate cranes, forklifts, and other equipment as needed.
• Prepare clear data sheets, logs and forms for work performed.
• Assist in waste removal, inspection, segregation and disposition.
• Maintain safe, clean, and orderly work areas; comply with safety programs.
