Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking Radiological Control Technicians to support radiological safety across neutron sciences, isotope research, and nuclear facilities operations. You will perform instrument tests, monitor contamination, collect air samples, label materials, and help enforce access control in radiological areas.

Ideal candidates will have an AS degree or equivalent, DOE RCT core certification, and the ability to work independently while collaborating in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• AS degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience (HS diploma and 2 years).
• DOE Radiological Control Technician Core Exam Certification.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine radiation detection instrument performance tests.
• Radiation and contamination monitoring.
• Collection of air samples.
• Posting and labeling of radioactive materials.
• Access control into radiological areas.
• Radioactive waste surveys.
• Radiological job coverage during higher hazard radiological work.
• Mentoring of radiological workers.
• Obtain qualification and be able to work shift relief as needed.
