Job summary

Vistra Corp. seeks a senior Lead Fuels Engineer to direct the nuclear fuel transition across three Vistra nuclear power plants in support of a major uprate program.

You will provide technical leadership and program ownership for fuel design, licensing, vendor management and plant implementation. As the owner’s senior technical authority, you will ensure regulatory compliance, fuel performance, and acceptance of licensing deliverables, while coordinating with vendors and NRC toward successful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of commercial nuclear experience.
• Experience with fuel design, reload engineering, or fuel performance.
• Experience reviewing licensing deliverables for a utility or owner.
• Experience managing nuclear fuel vendors or major suppliers.
• Strong understanding of reactor physics and thermal hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the fleet-wide fuel transition strategy across three nuclear plants to support the uprate.
• Integrate fuel engineering across uprate workstreams (safety analysis, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, operations).
• Define fuel-related positions, requirements, acceptance criteria, and provide senior leadership with recommendations.
• Manage acceptance of vendor analyses, safety reports, methodologies, and reload evaluations for licensing.
• Ensure vendor products are technically sound, regulatory-ready, and NRC submittal-ready with owner comments resolved.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for the nuclear fuel vendor and drive accountability.
• Support NRC interactions and licensing basis development for uprate-related fuel changes.
• Develop and execute the integrated fuel transition plan across all three units.
