Job summary

Vistra seeks a senior Lead Fuels Engineer to direct a nuclear fuel transition across Vistra nuclear plants in support of a major power uprate program. You will lead fuel design integration, licensing support, vendor management, and plant implementation to ensure regulatory compliance and safe uprated operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of commercial nuclear experience.
• Experience with nuclear fuel design, reload engineering, or fuel performance.
• Experience reviewing and accepting technical or licensing deliverables for a utility or plant owner.
• Experience managing nuclear fuel vendors or major engineering suppliers.
• Strong understanding of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, safety analysis, and NRC licensing basis requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet-wide fuel transition strategy for three nuclear plants supporting the power uprate.
• Integrate fuel engineering across uprate workstreams (safety analysis, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, operations, plant modifications, licensing readiness, startup readiness).
• Define acceptance criteria and provide recommendations on readiness, risk, and implementation decisions.
• Ensure vendor analyses, safety reports, methodologies, reload evaluations, and other deliverables are accepted and regulatory-ready.
• Serve as primary technical interface for the nuclear fuel vendor and hold them accountable for quality and schedule.
• Support NRC interactions and licensing basis development related to fuel design and uprate changes.
• Develop and execute the integrated fuel transition plan across all three units.
