Job summary

Oklo is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join the Fuel Recycling Engineering team. You will develop detailed 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings for prototype to production hardware used in nuclear fuel recycling.

The role emphasizes manufacturable design, collaboration with engineers and machinists, and iterative prototyping in high-temperature, corrosive environments. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience with SolidWorks and a strong foundation in designing fabrication drawings,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing detailed mechanical designs and fabrication drawings.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks including complex assemblies and weldments.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings with GD&T, BOMs and notes.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements and produce accurate mechanical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Produce fabrication, assembly, weldment, machining, and installation drawings for production.
• Translate concepts into manufacturable mechanical designs with attention to detail.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles throughout the design process.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and fabrication vendors to optimize designs.
• Develop mechanical assemblies, fixtures, tooling, and process equipment.
• Support prototype fabrication by incorporating manufacturing feedback and revisions.
• Maintain BOMs, drawing revisions, and controlled CAD files.
• Participate in design reviews and provide practical manufacturing recommendations.
• Assist with prototype assembly and iterative design improvements.
• Help develop CAD standards and drawing templates.
