Job summary

Southern Nuclear is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for Plant Farley in Alabama to join the engineering organization. The role focuses on programmatic and technical aspects of nuclear fire protection design and requires strong analytical skills to become a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with codes, preparing for NRC/INPO inspections, and supporting surveillance testing and PM activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Engineering degree from an accredited college; PE may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
• Four or more years of fire protection engineering experience preferred; nuclear power plant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide code and program expertise; ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations.
• Prepare for NRC and INPO inspections and assessments.
• Monitor testing and performance of fire protection detection and suppression systems.
• Review design and field changes for accuracy, program impact, and functional testing.
• Develop and improve Preventive Maintenance tasks based on corrective actions and performance monitoring.
