Southern Nuclear’s Plant Hatch facility in Baxley, GA seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to specialize in nuclear fire protection design, inspection readiness, and PM optimization. The role involves ensuring compliance with fire safety codes, reviewing changes, and supporting NRC/INPO readiness.

Qualified candidates hold a BS in Fire Protection Engineering (or engineering) with a PE license and 4+ years of fire protection experience; nuclear plant exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Fire Protection Engineering or engineering degree from an accredited college; highly preferred.
• Professional Engineer license with 4+ years Fire Protection experience acceptable in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide code and program expertise; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
• Prepare for NRC/INPO pre-operational inspections.
• Monitor testing and performance of fire protection detection and suppression systems.
• Review design/field changes for accuracy and testing impact.
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance tasks based on corrective actions and operating experience.
• Support surveillance testing, fire protection pre plans, and impairment monitoring processes.
• Provide training and reference materials to station personnel; participate in fire drills and emergency exercises.
• Respond to industry operating experience.
