Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for our Gaithersburg, MD site. The role focuses on developing design concepts for fire protection systems, performing rigorous analyses, and ensuring compliance with NFPA, NRC, and internal X-energy procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
Experience in design and operation of fire protection systems including sprinkler, detection, barriers and smoke control.
Knowledge of NFPA codes (NFPA 804/805), 10 CFR 50 Appendix R and Regulatory Guide 1.189.

Responsibilities

Develop mechanical/physical system design concepts for SSCs and associated analyses.
Lead planning for analyses to ensure SSCs meet technical specs and requirements.
Oversee documentation and compliance with industry codes and standards.
Coordinate with stakeholders/systems engineers to define design basis and criteria.
Perform fire protection analyses, hydraulic calculations and fire barrier assessments.
Develop CAD-based models for fire protection systems and participate in design reviews.
Provide project leadership and management of external engineering partners.
