Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services seeks a Senior Field Mechanical Engineer to lead field construction activities for LEU+ in Columbia, SC. The role requires nuclear industry experience and safety certification, with responsibilities spanning installation, inspections, reporting, and coordinating with EPC contractors.

The position demands a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, 7+ years in the discipline, and 3+ years in the nuclear sector, along with the ability to obtain a US security clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years of discipline-related engineering experience.
• 3+ years in the nuclear industry.
• 3+ years of field engineering or similar role in nuclear.
• Experience in engineering, procurement and operations in nuclear.
• OSHA 30-hour or equivalent safety certification.
• Ability to pass Westinghouse physical exams incl. respirator spirometry.

Responsibilities

• Represent LEU+ Engineering in the field for mechanical construction and equipment installations.
• Oversee construction progress, interpret drawings, and maintain quality.
• Coordinate interfaces and inspections to meet plans and schedules.
• Conduct jobsite walk-downs for compliance with engineering requirements.
• Resolve field issues and process change orders.
• Participate in design reviews and prepare reports.
• Maintain detailed construction records including progress and as-builts.
• Communicate with internal groups, customers, and vendors to complete work.
• Approve subcontractor work plans for assigned discipline.
• Attend project meetings and inspections as directed.
